Manuscript for Beginners - Nice large manuscript for beginners - 6 staves per 8.5 X 11 sheet.
Manuscript for Students - This is simply 10 staves on an 8.5 X 11 sheet. I often use this to scratch down some of my ideas before
running them through Finale.
I Forgot My Brain Today - excerpt from Middle C Repertoire Book 1. A favorite of my students inspired by one of my students
who constantly forgot bringing her books to her lessons. You fill in the blanks!!
Thoughts on B-I-N-G-O - excerpt from Middle C Repertoire Book 2. B-I-N-G-O is a favorite of all young students and this little
variation is used to teach the eighth/eighth/quarter rhythm that is demanded of students at this point in their development.
Etude in E minor - excerpt from Middle C Repertoire Book 3. This little piece emphasizes long strings of both legato and staccato
eighth notes as well as short sections of 3 part chordal writing.
The Sailors of Gdansk - excerpt from Folk Songs Book 1. The selections from the three Folk Song Books are true folk songs,
mostly of European origin. Actually, they were melodies from my college sight singing texts. The harmonies are my own.
The Sailors of Gdansk is of Polish origin.
Festival Dance at Baaka - excerpt from Folk Songs Book 2. This dancelike melody is of Norwegian origin. I give this simple
little tune three different rhythmic settings.
Waltz at Sherwood Forest - excerpt from Folk Songs Book 3. This waltz tune is derived from a folk tune from England.
Accompaniments vary in the A and B sections to provide contrast.
All the Pretty Little Horses - excerpt from American Heritage Book 3. This folk song is also used by Aaron Copland in his set
of American folk songs. Since the melody is shared by the hands I use smaller notes to distinguish between the melody and the
accompaniment.
The Tailor and the Mouse - excerpt from American Heritage Book 4. This is one of my personal favorites. It's an excellent
example of a jolly tune written in a minor key.
A Child Is Born in Bethlehem - excerpt from Traditional Christmas Favorites Book 4. This melody was orginally a chant.
The original melody didn't follow any particular meter, so I didn't force one upon this arrangement. Hope you don't mind the
harmonic treatment.
